Old wine in new skins, OT III in Scientology

Amazing Stories, April, 1934

Stories of revolts in the stars and evil emperors are nothing new in the science fiction world of Hubbard’s time.  Most of the stories from that Golden Era of writing we would regard as high camp today.  The upper level courses of Scientology are nothing more than old space operas merged with a form of demonic possession.  The one and only thing new about Hubbard’s work was that he was able to convince people that it was real.  But as you can see, camp or not, the magzine covers back then were exciting.
